This course is designed to meet the academic needs of students by equipping them with the skills necessary to engage with college-level materials. To further enhance their language proficiency, students will make use of audio-visual supplements and participate in out-of-class speaking and writing activities. The course aims to develop well-rounded English learners who are prepared to use academic English effectively across various contexts.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students are expected to:

• Strengthen their knowledge of vocabulary commonly used in academic settings;
• Develop strategies for the systematic study of high-frequency academic words;
• Improve their listening comprehension through course-provided materials;
• Build basic skills in academic speaking and writing.
