Course Objective
This course helps you use free AI tools and online resources to become a more effective and independent English learner. By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Discover tools: Use a range of AI tools and online resources to practice all four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
  • Create opportunities: Use AI as a personal tutor to practice English anytime, anywhere.
  • Think critically: Evaluate AI output for accuracy and reduce errors or misinformation.
  • Act ethically: Use AI responsibly and appropriately for school and future workplace tasks.
  • Build independence: Develop strategies to continue learning English on your own.

Course Requirements
  1. If you must miss a class due to an unavoidable circumstance (e.g., sick leave, injury, or a family emergency), please notify me in advance by email.
  2. There will be no late assignments or make-up tests.
  3. Please turn your cell phone to silent mode during class. You may use your mobile phone during class only for dictionary lookup or information searching related to the lesson.
  4. There will be quizzes and exams based on the materials presented in class and in the textbooks. Please preview and review the class materials every week.

Course Objective
The course is designed to meet students’ academic needs by equipping them with the skills necessary to engage with college-level materials. Students will use a range of resources (texts, audio, video, online materials) to support their learning and will complete out-of-class speaking and writing assignments to build fluency and confidence. Overall, the course aims to develop well-rounded English learners who can use academic English effectively in a variety of contexts.

You will have the opportunity to explore different tools and decide which ones work best for your personal style, learning needs, and future career goals. We also focus on being smart users: you will learn to think critically, check whether AI-generated content is accurate, and use these powerful tools responsibly and honestly.
